Congratulations to David Hults who earned his Commercial Certificate today flying out of Truckee!! Dave worked with CFIs Nick Mahan and Nik Joshi in his own aircraft. We were lucky to meet Dave when he came to GBA to get his TAA time. And now we can’t get rid of him...kinda kidding Dave. Congratulations again!! We are excited to see where this awesome accomplishment takes you!
Save the date! N2291C is turning 10,000!! So many of you have been a part of 91C’s flight time and we want to thank you by celebrating with a GBA client appreciation and "Club N2291C" event. The date will be Saturday, July 11th from 9am-12pm. More details coming soon. Please spread the word to any aviator you know who has logged time in the “Princess.” Also, if you have any pictures of you and N2291C, please send them to [email protected].
While others were sleeping in this morning Mike McCain was soloing an aircraft!! Mike flew his first few laps without an instructor at KRTS, runway 26, in N670CS! He has been flying in his family’s Bonanza for years and recently decided he wants to be the pilot in command which brought him to GBA. As a business owner, his schedule is a tough one. But, he set this goal and he is making it work. Today, he saw how sweet solo flight is as he pulled off the runway, let his CFI Mark Montague out, then taxied and took off. Mark hid behind the PAPIs monitoring Mike on the radio and photographing this most memorable flight. Congratulations to Mike and Mark!! We are so excited and grateful to get to work with Mike as he continues to progress toward his Private Pilot Certificate. So happy for you Mike!!
Northern Nevada has a new instrument rated pilot, Weston Levine!! Weston, a Reno native, earned his PPL in Reno then started his instrument training in San Diego. COVID brought him back to the Truckee Meadows and to GBA to finish his training and complete his checkride. Today he demonstrated that he has the skills to handle even the cloudiest of situations. Weston is now jumping right into training for his commercial certificate on his path toward the goal of professional or military pilot. But, in the meantime, Weston will be staying local attending UNR, enjoying the gorgeous eastern sierras, lifting heavy stuff in the gym, and flight training. By the way ladies...Weston is single ;) Congratulations to Weston and his CFII Austin Tanner!!
Northern Nevada has a new Private Pilot!! Congratulations to Will Levin who earned the coveted Private Pilot Certificate today in N495SP. Will and his instructor Levi Mellows have been working relentlessly since the reopening of GBA in April. It all paid off today as Will soared back into KRNO and heard “congratulations” from his examiner. Will is no stranger to the sky...He served six years as a Naval Aircrewmen and will continue his love of the sky as he works towards a professional career in aviation. Way to go Will!! You worked hard and earned your wings. Best of luck with your future goals and many happy landings!
