What initially feels like a complex process will slowly become second nature, and you will always have a great story to tell. Flying in Northern Nevada adds to this experience. Since it was formed, Great Basin Aviation has been located at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport, in Class-C airspace. The airspaces we fly in, mixed with the mountains, desert, and winds, will put you well on your path to becoming a technical, efficient pilot.

We are not the biggest flight school in town, and we are not the cheapest. That is by design. Our focus is on producing confident, competent pilots through structured training, instructor continuity, and a community that values professionalism on the ground and in the air.

At GBA, students are not anonymous. Progress is tracked, instructors know individual goals, and training decisions are made with long-term success in mind, not just filling schedule slots. We prioritize consistency, preparation, and accountability because those are the things that actually shorten training timelines and reduce wasted cost.

Our Mission - At Great Basin Aviation, we measure our success by our ability to create and further encourage safe, competent, and proficient pilots in the most efficient manner possible. It is our goal to provide flight training with the core values of safety, quality, and integrity. 
We offer Northern Nevada’s most modern fleet of rental aircraft (including: model year 2007 Cessna Aircraft with glass cockpits), Northern Nevada’s only Cessna Pilot Center, most experienced contracted full-time flight instructors, and an instruction path from student pilot to CFI/CFII as well as endorsements and specialty courses.

Basic instruction is the core of our business, but we also offer advanced flight instruction, flight reviews, scenic flights, and aircraft rentals.
